Who is Cool DoodleBug Co? and why?

As my Papa would start any good story... "Well!"...

Really, Cool DoodleBug Co. is just me! I'm Rachel from Good ol' Texas. Sometimes I might use the term "we" and I do that because I'm getting ideas and information, not just from my own research, but I'm collecting as I see family, friends and teachers do something cool with the kids, find a new book they love or products that are really fun or helpful. I feel much better saying "We" than just saying 'I' sometimes since this information can come from multiple sources.

I've been working at our family owned Montessori School for almost 15 Years now which is crazy to me. I have learned sooo much from my time there.

I got my first job at 'the school' as we call it, as a Teacher's assistant.  I eventually moved on to become a Primary Teacher for a brief time and made my way into the office in Admin. where I am at now. 

The name Cool Doodlebug Co. actually comes from my experience as a teacher at the Montessori School.  We would play outside and finding a doodle bug (a.k.a. Pill Bug or Rollie Pollie) was like finding a treasure.  Really they are treasures! Gentle little bugs, with feather-like legs just wanting to hide in the dark.  I feel that Doodlebugs-I feel that...

Along with my time as a teacher I have had the privilege of being an Aunt since I was 5 years old!  I felt like such a big girl when I got the label 'Aunt Rachel'. It still makes me smile. My brother and sis-in-law being much older than me provided me my nephew, who I adore and cherish to this day.

I now have more Nieces and Nephews since then.  Some blood and some heart, my bestie moved back to Tx recently and she has two littles that I claim as niece and nephew as well.

All of this being said, I really enjoy kids.  Now, I was a teacher so I also know they are hard work lol many a mental vacation did I need during that time. It's also a huge honor, though. So, I've been trying to find a way to share some of the cool stuff I've seen and know with others. I also would like to dip my toes into the glitter pool and try my hand at designing some aesthetically and sensorially pleasing educational products for children but also for you educators, parents, guardians, friends etc.  I felt, in my classroom, that having pretty supplies or tools made the time teaching more enjoyable and sometimes even less stressful. My goal is to help all of us! Together to have a really pleasant and joyful time learning and exploring together.
